I’ve recently had problems with my PHP application, nothing to-do with WordPress, but my experience with another forum was bad. I felt belittled and insulted from the forum volunteers responding.
I was wondering whether some guidelines exists to help me prevent myself from iterating this bad forum experience on other users. I don’t want to put others through what I have experienced, it really discouraged me from asking help again.
Does anyone know if these guidelines exist and where I can find them?
Sorry to hear about your bad experience. We try our best to treat each other as human beings here. A few good articles that helped me become a better giver of help.
We also have a specific page that contains details of how to get the best out of these forums. See http://codex.wordpress.org/Forum_Welcome
That really sucks. People can be so mean sometimes. I do hope that you use the forum here and that we can help. I think that the things to remember is that we are all volunteers, so not always here and as esmi mentioned, writing good support thread is important.
Andrea who is also another support forum volunteer wrote a great article also – http://wprealm.com/blog/writing-a-better-support-forum-request/
Excellent resources everyone.
