[Resolved] fresh install, working, but white on white text and missing functionality
i have a fresh install of wordpress here: http://www.templeparlor.com/wordpress/
it is straight out of the box, no plug-ins, google gears, theme, posts, anything. it has the following issues:
1. writing or editing a post gives me white-on-white text in the edit box
2. tinymce is missing from the top of the edit box
4. the unfoldmenu links on the sidebar do not work
5. the quick edit link below the edit post box does not work
there might be more issues, but this is what i have found so far. the odd thing is that it seems that all my wordpress files are complete and correctly installed. i know this because i set up wordpress on my laptop. it works perfectly on my laptop, and all files are synchronized with the wordpress folder on the server. i have also re-downloaded and re-installed wordpress, and i get the same result
could the problem be in the configuration of the server? does anyone know how to troubleshoot this? i can admin the server with Plesk, for many tasks, but i don’t know what to look for.
Have you tried re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?
i just did that, and no change. after uploading, synchronization indicates that the installed folders on the server are identical with the folders on my laptop, which works perfectly.
What server are you running on your laptop? Do you have any details on the remote server?
wordpress is running on MAMP on my laptop. this works very well, and i use it to develop lots of sites on virtual hosts.
WebIntellects is the host (http://www.webintellects.com/). they have Plesk (from Parallels) as an admin tool. i don’t know anything else about the server.
This is not the first wordpress site i’ve set up. it is the third, so i kind of know what i’m doing. it is the first time i’ve had a problem with installation though.
So the remote server isn’t one that you’ve used before with WordPress? Could there be a server problem? Have you spoken to the hosting provider?
right, i have not yet asked webintellects about it. it’s my client’s hosting service.
this problem was caused by an Apache security module on the server – resolved now by disabling the security module..
I am having the same problem with all of my updates to 2.9.2. Can you confirm which module was causing the problem?
