• I’ve got a fresh install of 2.7 running on a virtual server. Works great. I’ve also got an exported sql database from an old wordpress installation (2.6) that I would like to use with my new 2.7 install.

Initially, I thought I would be able to install 2.7 using the old database, but the installer asked me to clean my tables before proceeding. So I did.

With 2.7 installed and running with an new/empty database, I tried to drop that DB and replace it with the old one. This resulted in the rather peculiar message “your database is up to date” each time I clicked on… well, anything and everything. This was the only thing the installation did at this point. Not exactly what I had in mind.

I realize I must be missing something fundamental here. As it stands, I’ve reverted back to an empty database so everything is working again. The old sql file is however still sitter here on my desktop taunting me with its mere presence.

Would you help a brother out? What do I do?

    Cheers,

  • If you restore the 2.6 database, then you should navigate to yourdomain.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php and let it upgrade the database to the 2.7 ‘standard’.
