    Hi again,

I have a form with the Frequency field set to the value “365.” However, viewing my site, I see the opt-in form pop up several times within one session (that is, I haven’t closed the browser). I expected to see the form no more than once in 365 days.

How is the user identified for the frequency? Is it by IP address, browser cache, or another identifier? I’m asking so that I can test it for my site.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Naama,

I just tested this on your site and it seems to work fine. Can you provide some more information on this (like which URLs did you open)?

The frequency is identified by a cookie which expires after X number of days that you specify. You can also try it in an incognito window. Make sure ?mailmunch_preview parameter is not in the URL.

    Hi again,

Thanks for getting back to me. I should have specified in my original post that I’ve deactivated the form for now, because I didn’t want users seeing it more than once. So you wouldn’t have seen it pop up on my site.

    Hi Naama,

That was a great catch. We have fixed the issue. You’ll have to clear your cookies to test it. Thanks for bringing this to our attention πŸ™‚

I’m having the same issue. I actually deleted Mailmunch and reinstalled today, but am still getting the popup over and over again within one visit to my site. I hope my users are not experiencing this. Are you sure you fixed the issue? I’d like to use your plugin, because I love it, other than that. If my blog subscribers are going to be asked multiple times per visit to sign up, that’s a deal breaker. It’s especially frustrating that I actually subscribed myself, and still get the message. Please let me know how to fix this! Thanks so much!

FYI, my website is http://www.GreatFoodLifestyle.com, and I set it to show up every 14 days.

    Thanks again.

I’m going to have to disable it again…it’s popping up like crazy, and it’s also significantly slowing down my site. Should I start a different ticket for the slowing down the site issue?

    Hi,
We’re sorry for the inconvenience and are looking into the issue. Is it possible for you to reinstall the plugin on your website and deactivate it so that we can have a look at the issue?

Thx for the quick response! I’m going to wait until after the weekend (high traffic time). Will let you know.

Great. We’ll be waiting to hear from you πŸ™‚

Hi, I have the same issue, pop-up appears multiple times despite of the frequency.

I installed the plugin only yesterday, I like it but please fix this problem. For now I’ll disable it.

Yuffie89 / tiggerusa, can you guys install the plugin again but keep the optin form deactivated? That way it won’t be shown to visitors but we will be able to test what’s causing the problem.

Also, what are your sites? Thanks!

@mailmunch: Done, unistalled and reinstailled with optin form disable.

Yuffie89, can’t reproduce it on your website. Sent you an email with some questions to see if we can resolve it. Thanks.

Thanks for working on this and for your quick responses! I think for now I’m going to just use the subscription form that comes with Jetpack. It’s simpler and doesn’t slow down my site. Your plugin is good at building followers, though, and I hope you can work out these details!

tiggerusa, our form does not slow down the site at all. We are hosted on Amazon’s infrastructure with global caching centers. Are you sure it was MailMunch that was slowing down things for you or some other plugin?

When I ran the test on GoogleSpeed it specifically cited MailMunch in 8-10 of the problems under “Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content.” My score went down to 0 out of 100. I know a lot of my speed issues are things that I need to figure out, and maybe there’s something easy I need to do to fix how the JavaScript and CSS are loading, but for now I need to go as simple as possible until I figure it out. Any suggestions would be great…I have a lot to learn!
