Support » Plugin: Smash Balloon Social Photo Feed » Freemium and bad programming

  • It works, but is very limited in its functions – more that 2/3 of the features are disabled and open a “please buy the pro version” popup infobox.

Moreover, it bloats its admin interface with social media addins (which are not privacy safe and track your data), as well as plenty of links and banners about the pro version.

When I tried to remove all of this clutter from the php code, I stumbled upon a lot of badly written code as well as the fact that every OAuth for instagram includes the creators server url as an oauth param. I don’t know why but it is fishy as hell. Nicely done…

All in all it deserves 2 stars since it works, but i cannot recommend it to anyone.

    Hey @lordspackolatius,

Could you check that you’ve reviewed the right plugin as the things you mentioned aren’t included in our plugin! We don’t include a popup infobox promoting the Pro version or add anything to the admin interface as you described, and we definitely don’t track any data at all. It sounds like you may have confused our plugin for a different one unfortunately.

Please could you check that the issues you described are associated with our “Instagram Feed” plugin?

    Many thanks,

    John
