• This is a great calendar. The site visitor can choose how they want to see it – list, day, month, week, etc… and the site owner can choose the default view. The downside – There is at least one WP theme with which it is not 100% compatible. However, I must concede, that’s more of a problem with that particular theme than it is with this plugin. Honestly, if you’re looking for an events calendar for your site, I haven’t seen one better.

Although it’s not important point maybe but Blank pag-title is able to disappear by CSS.

    Hi @slvailhotmailcom,

I’m sorry to hear that you’ve experienced difficulties and were unable to find the assistance you needed to work with our plugin.

With that said, I do feel a statement like “Free Version is Useless” (your review title) is a little strong for a plugin that is far from useless and packs in a huge number of capabilities – you yourself note it appears to be a decent plugin.

Our demo site is a great example of our plugins running on a theme that is, essentially, a simple adaptation of a default WordPress theme. I certainly could be missing something but I don’t see the problem you cited there nor – in the course of working with a great many customers – does this appear to be a widespread problem.

What I suspect, then, is that you perhaps are experiencing a theme conflict of some kind.

When I looked the problem up on their support forum, several folks have requested help with this issue and they refuse to even address it.

Every case is different and – best I can tell – you haven’t posted any topics on this subject yourself so we haven’t had a chance to even look at the problem as it is on your website.

It’s certainly true, though, that if something appears not to be a genuine bug but rather looks like a conflict or integration issue with a specific theme then the degree of assistance we can provide tends to be limited. Additionally, in such a case, we are not the only people who can help and indeed we are not necessarily the best people to help: if your theme does something non-standard, as an example, then its authors are probably best positioned to provide further guidance on the topic.

So I can only assume that “Untitled” will remain the Events page title until the pro version is purchased

What you are implying is that we have deliberately inserted a problem into The Events Calendar and that we undo the damage only when people install our premium offering. This is simply untrue and it’s disappointing that you would make such a damaging and unfounded assertion.

As you haven’t posted a request for help on the forums or shared any details about your site and what other components you’ve installed I’m at a bit of a disadvantage here, but I’d contend that upgrading to PRO probably would not resolve the problem in of itself.

Please, review our demo site or take the plugin for a spin alongside a default theme like Twenty Seventeen. If you see the problem there let us know – it’s likely something we’ll want to fix – but I don’t believe that is the case. If on the other hand the issue is peculiar to your chosen theme, then it’s likely an integration issue of some kind.

It appears that they are using the “Untitled” page title to “motivate” a purchase of their pro version

    Again, no.

It is however true that the degree of support we offer here in the wordpress.org forums is less than what we provide in our premium forums and so, indirectly, becoming a premium customer could resolve an issue like this because our support team would potentially be able to investigate and steer you toward a solution crafted for your specific theme.

I wish we were able to offer that same level of support here for non-paying customers, but that’s unrealistic.

Again, I’m sorry that you experienced problems integrating our plugin with your theme. I do wish we had at least received the opportunity to help, though, before you posted this review.

    Hi Barry,
First of all, I want to thank you for your prompt response to my review. The reason I did not post a request for help on the forums is because someone else had already requested help for the same problem – https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/untitled-page/ – and “George’s” response to that request for help was waaaaay less than helpful.

I am using the Trope WP theme.
    My site: http://aebeachhighjrotc.org/
The URL for the Events Page: http://aebeachhighjrotc.org/index.php/events/

If you can help me get “Untitled” off the top of the page, that would be awesome and it would certainly influence my review of your product and services

    (@barryhughes-1)

Thanks for getting back to me.

I can certainly see how our reply in that topic may have seemed unhelpful to you, especially if that is one of the first things you encountered while searching for help with this issue — but I’ll be clear that George’s response is one I fully endorse:

    • Our pre-sales forum – which is where that question was posted – is not the correct venue for technical support
    • George made this pretty clear and provided two alternatives: but in no way did he imply that the premium forums/purchasing a license would offer a magic fix

I am using the Trope WP theme.
    My site: http://aebeachhighjrotc.org/
The URL for the Events Page: http://aebeachhighjrotc.org/index.php/events/

Thank you for sharing those details.

I see the problem you have described but I can equally state with some confidence that this is an artefact of your theme, not our plugins. If you try the same thing using a standard WordPress theme such as Twenty Seventeen (and standard, default themes like that are very much our touchstone as it would simply be impossible for us to guarantee compatibility with every individual theme out there) I think you’ll find there is no corresponding issue.

@slvailhotmailcom: if our resources were unbounded, we would of course love to look into this. Yet to do so would almost certainly require obtaining a copy of that same theme and troubleshooting its code and — as I’m sure you can appreciate — that doesn’t come without an attached cost. Additionally, our experience is that a fix for one theme (Trope, in this case) is not something that will necessarily be useful for users with similar issues but different themes.

Now more than ever, when we have a large demand for premium support, we need to prioritize our premium customers first and foremost. Of course we remain interested in guiding our free users and helping them with bugs wherever we can — but this seems not to be a bug but rather an integration issue: you have brought together two different components – our plugin and their theme – and wish them to run in harmony.

That’s not an unreasonable expectation. Indeed, after looking at your site, it seems they largely do coexist harmoniously but for this one wrinkle. Further help, though, is not available here in the reviews page.

    • You can post for help in the community forum: team members will not necessarily be able to help directly, but we have a huge community and there’s every chance you’ll be able to source some help from within it
    • You can contact your theme author: they are, after all, the other half of the equation and in all likelihood the source of “Untitled” lies within their code: if the theme is well-built, they could at the very least provide you with the name of a filter or hook that will let you modify it (and if you have that information, we probably could provide further assistance)
    • Though certainly not required and not guaranteed to provide a successful outcome, if you had a premium license for one of our products you could then post in our premium forums where the level of provided support is higher

Thanks again for your feedback. I feel our position on this is a fair one and I hope, you agree, a reasonable one.
