 * This a review for the free version which *drum roll* doesn’t “smush” large images,
   rendering it completely useless.
 * So I decide to see how much the pro version costs (I’m not unreasonable). Except
they don’t have their price listed ANYWHERE, which makes me think it’s either
way too expensive or another freaking subscription service which isn’t a cost
effective measure given the size of my site.
 * I’m just going to compress the images using a free tool until I find a plugin
I can just pay for or a decent free one.

 * Hey there [@pjingles](https://wordpress.org/support/users/pjingles/),
 * Yes, the free version does have 1mb limit, which we’ve found is high enough for
the majority of images uploaded to the average website, which is why we went
with that limit. We still wanted it to be useful even in it’s free form. We do
   appreciate your feedback though!
 * As for no pricing being listed. We are fixing that, we’re testing a new checkout
process right now which is likely what you saw and you are right it doesn’t show
pricing clearly until after the initial user registration. No good! We’re getting
that sorted out. Our pricing is $49/mo for everything our membership has to offer–
100+ premium products, WPMU DEV Academy courses, remote site management, security/
performance scanning, and more. You get a **14 day free trial** to begin with
so you can try it all out before any payment is made.

 * You can cancel the subscription at any time so if you only needed Smush Pro version
for a month to smush some large images you had or perhaps do a big bulk smush
then you could do that and afterwards it would fall back to the free version
   capabilities.
 * I’d suggest trying out the free trial since it won’t cost you anything then you
can try out the pro version, smush any images you aren’t able to with the free
version, and perhaps try out some of our other products/services as well during
   that 14 days 🙂
 * Any pre-sales/pricing/billing questions you can always direct straight to our
   support team too: **[contact@wpmudev.org](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/free-version-is-useless-17/contact@wpmudev.org?output_format=md)**
