I am working on a website for a client that wants to be able to sell ads for her website. I found a really good plugin that meets all but one very important need, DataFeedr Random Ads V2. The problem with this plugin is that it’s server-side, and so even though the ads are indeed randomly chosen, if I enable caching, the website runs significantly faster but the ads are “frozen”, because which specific ad was chosen first is also cached.

Anyway, I thought I’d post a “wishlist” for an ad manager plugin or service and see if anyone had any suggestions.

    – The ads need to be self-serve, as in no generated ads like Google’s Ad Sense. I have a folder full of JPG’s that need to be uploaded and displayed, with links for if people click on those ads
    – It has to be run client-side, in a language such as javascript (as opposed to PHP), or otherwise have some easy way to prevent WP-Super Cache from caching the ads
    – Free! The Datafeedr plugin was free, hopefully there’s a similar plugin that will let me do the same thing but also be cached
    – Groups of ads – currently in the Datafeedr plugin I have three ad categories, banner ads, sidebar ads, and footer ads. These each are different sizes, so it’s important to keep them separated

    Any ideas? Thanks so much!

I have found something that appears to be similar, Google’s DoubleClick for Publishers seems to have similar functions, but also has graphs and things to track users and a lot of other functions that I don’t need. I’d be fine with ignoring them, but to use this you need to have an AdSense account, and I was denied one for some reason. Any other ideas?

Consider OpenX? They have a free open source version here:
