Free Instagram Feed With Limited Options

    Smash Balloon plugin is easy to install and setup on WordPress. Several customisable options are available on the free version to display your Instagram feed on your profile as a widget. However, the best layout options are only available to those who pay for the Pro version. I wish the ‘Carousel’ feed was available in the free version but, unfortunately, it is not. The pricing options are too expensive and unnecessary for most people. Also, the plugin will cause speed issues to your website. You need to decide if a social feed is really important. You can simply link to your profile without the need to display it. Currently, I disabled Smash Balloon because of the issues it caused and the poor look of the free layout options.

We understand that having more options in the free version would always be a welcome addition, and while we wish we could offer every feature for free, we unfortunately have to reserve some features for the Pro version to allow us to continue providing free support and updates to this free plugin on an ongoing basis.

    If you are experiencing speed issues, we consider our plugin to be one of the least speed-‘expensive’ plugins that can be used to deliver a social feed as adding elements to your site, especially images, will always have a cost. We optimize this through automatically resizing and storing images on your site and showing the most relevant size depending on the screen size. We are always improving this as well and will soon add the ability to display .wepb images natively for even better performance.

We can also help guide you to customize the existing layouts so that they may better fit your site, even with the limitation of not having the carousel option available.
