Forums should be sortable by date, etc

When I search on almost anything, it seems that scores if not hundreds of pages are returned, with people repeatedly asking about similar or exactly the same things.

As user knowledge increases, the likelihood that recent responses may be more informative increases. Having one or more ‘sort by’ options should be mandatory for a repository this large. I frequently spend a great deal of time before I get close to what I need.

The wishlist for the forums is quite long and I’m willing to bet that something like this is already on it. But as the forums use a heavily customised version of bbPress which is maintained by volunteers, it all boils down to time available and the feasibility of adding any one requested feature.
