 * I have tried two different forums: WP Symposium and Mingle. Both were quirky 
   and didn’t work with jamesweil.com. WP Symposium sucks beyond words. It doesn’t
   support IE 8.0 and Windows 7. That leaves half my audience out in the cold. Mingle
   had problems with the login procedure, and the registration process never worked
   correctly. I am using Back my Book theme. Nothing terribly complex about it. 
   It’s just that it doesn’t like these forums.
 * Can anybody recommend a reliable, stable forum that works without having to hack
   the java code? I don’t need a lot of advanced features. I just want to create
   a forum where people can share their thoughts and make posts once they are registered.

 * You can have a try using Simple:Press. I would advise however you wait a bit 
   and use bbPress Plugin when it is ready.
