Notifications on new bbpress forum replies return blank string in place of “reply_title” and “reply_excerpt” merge tags (the only two in that category I’ve tried so far), where corresponding text should appear. Do you know what may be the cause of this?

Also, what’s the difference between “reply_title” and “reply_name”?

Hmm, it’s probably because the plugin is not really compatible with BB Press and wasn’t designed for the flow BB Press is utilizing. Replies and Topics are not just regular posts and this is why the tags may not work with them.

I have a plan to make a BB Press integration but this would be in future, not the next release.

reply_title would be the post title. This case I think it’s null because replies don’t have any titles, just content.

reply_name would be the post slug and it’s generated from the title. So when you have regular post with title “Hello World” the post_name is hello-world

Your generosity is beyond description!

Constantly full of surprises, I’m beginning to think you’re a magician in the guise of developer.

Hereby I’m also letting you know that this wondeful addition will probably suit everybody’s needs 🙂

Thus far I have installed it in development environment, but I don’t see why it shouldn’t work as expected once deployed. You have added a perfect blend of merge tags for the intended use case, that I don’t think you’ll receive any requests for enhancement.

Again and again, I sincerely thank you for everything you’re doing, both coding-related as well as human-wise.
