Formatting Toolbar on Pages and Post

  • On a former wordpress site, I had the ability to format a page or post by using a tool bar that had things like Bols, Italics, font color, etc – similar to Msft Word formatting tool bar. I could also switch between visual and html mode. See here

However, with my site at the moment, I only have the option to format in HTML. The visual pane is gone and I have no idea why its not there – and since my knowledge of html is nonexistent, I am at a loss.See here

  • Many things can cause the toolbar to disappear

The main one is plugins, try running your site with all your plugins deactivated and test

Next up, some themes can jack things up, try switching to the twentyten theme and testing to see if you still have the problem

And the last one I try, a jacked up file in WP core can cause this. Reupload all files from wp-admin and wp-includes from a fresh download of wordpress. (I believe just going to the upgrade menu and reinstalling your current version may work for this)

If none of that works, memory issues can also cause WP to act unpredictably…. http://wordpress.org/support/topic/253495?replies=13 may help if that is the issue

I have tried everything and I am receiving the same results. The weird thing is that on 2 other sites run with wordpress, the toolbar shows up accurately. One this one site, it does not and I cannot figure out why.
