Formatting of H tags and P tags aren't functioning

  • Despite text being surrounded in <p>, there doesn’t seem to be any line spacing added between paragraphs (see http://www.hootacademy.com/about-hoot-academy/).

    Also, having set a page to have <h1> and <h2>, the <h2> is being displayed as larger than the <h1> (see http://www.hootacademy.com/contact-us/). This surely can’t be deliberate, is this just a one off issue, or has anyone else experienced this?

    Have backed out of the theme and back in, and it’s behaving as before.

    Have uninstalled the theme and reinstalled it, and it’s behaving as before.

    Your theme is working fine; the issues you’re seeing are due to deliberate design decisions by the theme author.

    To change the paragraph spacing, get a custom CSS plugin and put in something like:

    p {
        margin-bottom: whatever value you'd like;
    }

    The h1 issue is a bit trickier. Your theme defines the size of h1 to be different depending on where on the page it appears. A quick but dirty fix would be to put:

    h1 {
        font-size: 36px !important;
    }

    That would save you the trouble of having to set different rules for each class name.

    Hey Stephen,

    Thanks very much for taking the time to reply.

    I really appreciate the suggestion here, it seems weird to me to have to edit a theme to get paragraph breaks and a descending order on H tags. To think this is “by design” is weirder still 🙂
