Formatting issue caused by addthis plugin

  • The AddThis Social Bookmarking Widget, is inserting a script block at the very top of our homepage. This causes browsers to go into what is called ‘Quirks Mode’, which means that it treats the page like it is using older HTML and applies rendering rules used by older browsers. This maligns the logos we have, pushing them to the top of the area they’re currently in.

    When the plugin is enabled the HTML for the homepage starts like this:

    <!– ngg_resource_manager_marker –><script type=”text/javascript”>

    var addthis_config = {“data_track_clickback”:true,”data_track_addressbar”:false,”data_track_textcopy”:false,”ui_atversion”:”300″};
    var addthis_product = ‘wpp-3.5.9’;
    </script><script type=”text/javascript” src=”//s7.addthis.com/js/300/addthis_widget.js#pubid=preationperformancemarketing”></script><!–wp_footer–> <!DOCTYPE html>
    <!–[if IE 8]> <html class=”no-js lt-ie9″ lang=”en” > <![endif]–>
    <!–[if gt IE 8]><!–> <html class=”no-js” lang=”en” > <!–<![endif]–>

    <head>

    When it is disabled it starts like this:

    <!DOCTYPE html>
    <!–[if IE 8]> <html class=”no-js lt-ie9″ lang=”en” > <![endif]–>
    <!–[if gt IE 8]><!–> <html class=”no-js” lang=”en” > <!–<![endif]–>

    <head>

    I got this feedback directly from our developer. Is there anyone who can help me with this? Do I need to revert to a previous version of the plugin?
