• This applies to all of the versions of WordPress I’ve seen so far. I’m not sure if it’s got to do with the platform itself or if it’s just the way the other pieces are built. In any event, the problem (to me, anyway) is that nothing lines up right. There’s no way to evenly center widgets inside of sidebars–apparently, the areas inside sidebars are always left-justified with a specified padding, which makes it almost impossible to get things centered even just by sight. I guess a lot of people just overlook those inconsistencies. To me, it’s just being sloppy, and if there’s a way to overcome what’s typical, that’s what I’d like to do.

In a similar vein, why don’t the columns in the freakin’ calendar ever line up straight? (How many years down the road from when this thing hit the airways, and the calendars still look like a fifth-grader designed them?)

In sum, is there actually a way to keep the formatting from getting slopped up by the WordPress software?

What you are describing is completely theme dependant and is not controlled by WordPress core.

Again – that’s down yo your chosen theme.
