Hello ChrisNi,
Thanks for the reply.
I checked out the links you sent, but while they are on topic, they were not really the solution.
I was just trying to determine if there were a WordPress PHP interface or third party addon to help a webmaster format the WordPress RSS2 feed output. I just want to publish a column of blog post titles and descriptions on my home page. But output needs to be formatted to match the home page.
I am surprised that more WP members do not want to do this.
Right now I send my feed to RSSinclude.com and then use their PHP code to publish the feed to my home page. But it slows the home page loading. Since my web site is self hosted on my own private server, it would be faster to format the output myself. But I am not an XML/RSS programmer, so I was hoping there was a RSS2 output generator available.
Hello again Hammer02,
I think I’m looking at this the wrong way. Let me ask you a question or two to see if I understand this correctly now. What you’re actually looking to do is take a feed of your WordPress posts and customize the format of that feed and put it in the home page of a non-WordPress site, correct? If that’s the case, you’ll need to look for a solution that fits in with however you build that non-WordPress site (e.g. HTML, other PHP, etc.). There really wouldn’t be a WordPress plugin that works on a non-WordPress site. I did some more research and hopefully one of these resources will help:
http://simplepie.org/
http://www.feedforall.com/displaying-rss.htm
http://www.webrss.com/
http://www.javascriptkit.com/dhtmltutors/googleajaxfeed.shtml
Let me know if any of those work.
Hi ChristNi
The feedforall.com folks provides a free generator for PHP code, but the RSS syntax is beyond me to be able to customize it.
For now, I will just do a manual cut-and-past work around using rssinclude.com. This will work on the home page until I can find someone to write me a program that will parse and format the wordpress rss2 feed.
Thanks for your help.
The Hammer
