    Since iOS 14.5 the date field shows input in international format, even if German localization and German language is selected in the iPhone settings.

    The date picker shows up in German localization. After selecting the date in the picker, the displayed format in the date field is „May 2, 2021“. The expected format would be „02.05.2021″, which was displayed in iOS 14.4.2 correctly.

    Maybe this is an iOS issue. Anyway – is there a workaround to define a format for the date field? I know it’s possible for mail, in this case I need it in the form.

    The page I need help with is a client project that has not yet launched. Therefore, unfortunately, I cannot link it.

  • Sorry but the date format is managed by browsers, in any case i suggest you to check if you have set the locale correctly in WordPress settings/general

    @erikyo
    Thanks, localization in WordPress is set correctly, everything works fine on smartphones with earlier iOS.

    in this case can be a webkit bug, but the best way to know is asking here: https://developer.apple.com/forums/

    let us know! cheers

    Yep, probably it is a webkit bug. Back to my question: Is there a workaround to define a format for the date field?

    I searched on stackoverflow but honestly, only found fixes done with js. I don’t think that’s a good way to fix this issue, this can be one of the usual incompatibility issues of ios and maybe now the local acquired in another way.
    For this ask in their forum does not hurt! Cheers!

    iOS 14.5.1 fixed it.
    Problem solved, topic is closed.
