Support » Fixing WordPress » Form that allows PDF download

  • I want my readers to be able to download an Ebook but they need to register their details first. How can I get them to fill out a form, email the details and automatically take them to the PDF URL?

The build in ‘Custom Form’ function does everything I need except take the reader to the PDF URL.

I’m using the hosted version of WordPress.

    Thanks in Advance,
    Mark E.

  • You could try having the link to the PDF be the thank you message from the form? Or do you mean to encrypt it so that people can’t just share the link?

It doesn’t have to be encrypted. If I use the ‘Custom Form’ feature it doesn’t take the reader anywhere. That’s the piece of the puzzle I’m missing

Not sure which plugin you’re using

You didn’t mean the hosted version perchance, did you?

If not, try using Gravity Forms or Formidable Forms

Correct, I’m using the hosted version. In that version when you create a page there is a button next to ‘Add Media’ that allows you to create Custom Forms.

I’m guessing I’ll have to hunt around for a plugin that will allows me to achieve what I want to do.

You can’t install plugins on, sadly. You’re just limited to what solutions they offer, so we can’t help terribly much here on the .org side of things.
