    Hi,

I recently renewed a website and activated the hCaptcha for example. Today, someone told me, he could not send me a message with the form. Although all fields were filled, he got a message that there was a field to fill in. But there wasn’t any visible field that was still empty.

Any idea how I can solve that problem?

    Tenx!

    Timothy

  • Hey @timothy12 – Thanks for contacting us!

I looked at the form, and when I tried submitting the form it seems that the browser validation is taking over the form validation. Here’s a screenshot.

This usually happens when the caching plugin is active on the website. When you have some time, can you please check if you have any caching plugin installed on the site and disable JS minification if it’s active to see how it goes?

    Kindly,

    Hello!

Thanks for your reply, @prashantrai ! I recognize the screenshot. That’s exactly what is happening when I use the form.

I’m not aware of having a caching plugin at my site. I’ve checked, but none of the plugins installed is meant to do such thing. About the js minification, I don’t think its active on my site, but I’m not sure about it. i’ve never istalled that option or enabled it somewhere.

The reason that I think it could be because of the hCaptcha, is that before I activated that option, the form worked properly. Just as test, I deactivated it and I could send a message without problems.

    Regards,

    Timothy

So, I now know the reason for the problem and I can solve it be deacivitating the hCaptcha, but it was be nice if that wasn’t necessairy.

How can I make the form work without deactivating the hCaptcha?

    Kind regards,

    Timothy

Hey @timothy12 – Thanks for following up on this ticket!

When you have sometime, can you please confirm if you’re using the WPForms hCaptcha on the form? I looked at the form, and even though you’ve disabled the hCaptcha, the browser validation is still taking over form validation. In this case, I would suggest you perform some plugin or theme conflict to narrow down the issue.

    Hi!

I’ve disabled the plugin, @prashantrai . So now you won’t get that message to fill in the field.

I’m using the Underscores theme for my site. I’ve tried another theme (standard WP-themes like twenty-two, but there wasn’t a contact form visible. I also deactivated all plugins besides of the WP forms Lite one, but even than, the message occurs when I fill in the form. So a conflict with another plugin can be ruled out, i guess?

Kind regards and thanks for helping!

Hey @timothy12 – Thanks for your interest in this ticket!

To narrow down the issue, please try the following steps and let me know how it goes:

    1. Embed the form on a new page
    2. Activate the default WordPress theme, and see if you’re able to submit the form.
    3. In case the issue is there, please try testing for a plugin conflict.

When you get a chance, please let me know the result of the above tests.

    Kindly,

    Hey @prashantrai ,

I followed your steps 1 and 2. I could succesfully send a message. The Captcha worked, but I hoped it was some kind of hidden solution. Now I had to click on images that could be a conference room.

Is there a way to have hidden captcha? I would prefer that (off course πŸ™‚ )

I recently tried to deactivate all other plugins, but that didn’t make the chance. So I don’t think the other plugins are the problem.

Thanks for the advice so far!

Hey @timothy12 – Thanks for following on this ticket, and I apologize for the delay in getting back to your support request.

When you have some time, can you please share some more details on the hidden Captcha and how you’re planning to use it?

    Hi @prashantrai

I would like to have some kind of reCaptha that is not visible, but it fills in a hidden field that robots can’t find, but when a normal user fills in the form, that hidden field is also filled.

I can’t describe it properly, because I don’t know exactly how it could/would work. My knowledge about this subject doesn’t reach that far.

    Thanks for your help!

    Regards,

    Timothy

Hey @timothy12 – For the hidden reCAPTCHA, you may consider taking a look at the invisible reCAPTCHA but for the test of the part, if you can share some more details, that will help me to assist you better.

Hello @prashantrai I’m using the lite-version of the plugin and I’m not sure if that offers the invisible reCaptcha. I can’t find it.

I did find the option to enable the spam protection. That was also the reason for me to search for an invisible reCaptcha. I hope this helps solving my problem a bit too.

I keep you informed! Thanks for your help.

    Regards,

    Timothy

Hey @timothy12 – Thanks for following up on this ticket!

The invisible reCAPTCHA comes with the lite version of WPForms and you can find the option under WPForms > Settings > Invisible reCAPTCHA v2. For more details, please see our guide here.

    Hello @prashantrai

Thanks for the instructions. I found the invisible reCaptcha and activated it. That worked, but when I sent myself a message with the form, I got the notifications that the message could not be send. In my opinion there was nothing in the message that could be seen as spam. So for the moment I deactivated it. πŸ™‚

What conditions are necessary for a message content to get it send?

    Regards,

    Timothy

Hey @timothy12 – Thanks for following in this ticket!

There can be different reasons why the message wasn’t sent. When you have some time, can you please share a screenshot of the error message you received so I can take a closer look?

    Kindly,

Hey – We haven’t heard back from you in about a week, so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. But if you’d like us to assist further, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.
