I have copied the template “form-billing.php” to my child theme/woocommerce/checkout/ and am editing the “CREATE AN ACCOUNT?” text to this “Create an account for easier checkout, print invoices, and re-order supplies.”
    Here is the exact line:

<span><?php _e( ‘Create an account for easier checkout, print invoices, and re-order supplies.’, ‘woocommerce’ ); ?></span>

Why am I getting a syntax error?

    Thanks

  • The line seems okay and I have also tried it out in my local setup. Seems to work fine without any error. It would have been better if you could post the error message.

    Thanks

Make sure you used straight quotes and not smart quotes.

Check out the whole file using this service. It may give you a clue.

If you don’t need your child theme to be translatable, try the simpler form:
<span>Create an account for easier checkout, print invoices, and re-order supplies.</span>

Solved. There was an error with serve connectivity. It was good to know the simpler form though.

    Thanks
