Forgot to change URIs before moving blog from sub-domain to root….

  • I had a blog at : http://www.blog.sadowney.com

I wanted to move it to : http://www.sadowney.com

I forgot to change the URIs before I moved the files. Now I cannot get access to my Admin page. The site appears to be functioning though. (I am using a ProPhoto template that is currently set to to inform viewer that the site is under construction.)

I found some help from the link below but was hoping someone could clarify step by step instructions for me since I have no idea at all what I am doing. How do I make a “symlink”? Or, how do I change the wp_options table? I have no experience in doing this type of thing, so please forgive my ignorance.

Also, I do have a backup of my database….if that changes/helps things. Any help is appreciated:)

    *using mac osx 10.7.3*

  • Put this into your .htaccess file:

    RedirectMatch 301 /old/directory/(.*)$ http://www.yourdomain.com/$1

This should reroute everything to the new location.

(DonĀ“t put www. if your server delivers your site without.)
