Forgot password

  • Hi! I am using Wp members version 2.9.1. I use the widget for Wp-members and there it is a link “Forgot password?”. But when I use this link I just get to the profile page. It used to work so that the user got to a page where he/she could get a new password. How can I get that back?

  • I am also using ver 2.9.1 with WP 3.8.1 and am having this same issue. It was brought to my attention by a user and I have subsequently tried using this facility myself – however, I don’t know how long it has been like this – sorry! The password re-set link appears to be a link to itself, if that makes sense.

If you click the forgot password link and do not end up at the password reset dialog, then it is likely that you haven’t configured the plugin’s options correctly.

The forgot password link is generated based on the location of the [wp-members page=”user-profile”] shortcode. So, for starters, you need to have created a page and added the shortcode to it.

Setting the location of this page in the plugin’s options for “User Profile Page” is what the plugin uses to create the forgot password link.

This is covered in a few places in the User Guide:

Thanks, but this doesn’t seem to be my issue. I’ve re-checked the settings as suggested and all is correct. In addition – checking back – this was working fine until about 5 weeks ago and I have made no alterations to it myself since then. It is just the password-reset that is the issue -everything else works fine. All links display etc it’s just that clicking the password-reset link does nothing.

While it shouldn’t make a difference, you might also want to check to make sure the page is not set as blocked.

Fixed it! The page in question is called ‘Members Details’. A helpful fellow admin had changed it to ‘Members’ Details’ – note grammatically correct but unhelpful comma. Sorry to have wasted your time.

I found the problem, it was a conflict with the members plugin by Justin Tadlock. I use it to prevent new members who register true Facebook to get acsess to the private pages without my confirmation.. Any way to fix this?
