Forcing full width for blog roll and posts

I’ve looked around and found some instructions but want to make sure I do it right. The theme that my friend is using does not have Custom Post templates. I would like this page and this page to be full width if possible (as well as all other single posts).

Do I need to edit the single.php and page-blog-full.php? I can past code here if that’s helpful?
