Force Usage of Widgets in Sidebar?

I’ve been thinking about forcing people to use widgets instead of the normal non-widgetized sidebar markup. In the standard sidebar’s place would be instructions on how to add widgets. Also, the meta would be in place as well so users can login right away to change the widgets.

Is this a bad move? Or good?
