We’ve tried your site on multiple clients and the video loads up at 1080p (highest HD level) every time.

Thank you very much for creating this plug-in and the frequency with which you answer question on these boards.

When I had changed the font of the youtube link, it only showed that text. Due to a thread, I cleared the formatting and the video was displayed.

Unfortunately, I am not getting the video to play in HD. When I manually switch it to HD, it immediately adjusts leading me to believe “when available” is possible. I am excited to use this plug-in for all my videos (with HD playback being the most important feature to me) and would be willing to upgrade if this feature works on all the videos. However, I am reluctant to switch all of my embeds if it doesn’t work.

The following link is the only embed I have tried. As you can see it uses the Light theme, but only plays in 360p.

Dolphin Pod in San Diego filmed by Burnz Eye View with a quadcopter

My version of WordPress: WordPress 4.0 running Aegean Resort theme

Are their known plug-ins that hinder HD play, settings I can change, or “insert question I should ask but don’t know to.” Thanks for all the help and support you can provide.

The vq parameter that everyone, including us with this plugin, have used seems to have been phased out by YouTube for what turns out to be valid reasons. A comment from a Google developer earlier this year confirms this. YouTube acknowledges that viewers of embedded videos might have slow, mobile, or HD unfriendly connections; hence forcing HD automatically is too presumptuous. The costs of HD delivery is also higher.

So the question now is how does one get HD on an embed? Basically, HD quality is mostly a viewer (and not embedder) controlled setting now.
Viewers can make their preferences known to YouTube by logging into their YouTube accounts, going to the Settings Page, and choosing the desired HD related Playback options. See here for how to access the account settings page on YouTube:

We’ve viewed your site under three different states: logged out and logged into two different YouTube accounts with different HD preferences. Logged out loaded in 360p, logged into one account loaded with 480p and the other with 720p.
