Support » Plugin: WooCommerce PDF Invoices & Packing Slips » Force display VAT 0% on invoices

  • Hey Guys!
I have searched all over the internet and forums (here included) to try and solve this problem. I need the invoice to always show the tax by the total & subtotal area. Even if the tax is 0% (EU VAT for example). By law it is required here 🙁

Bonus if it also shows during checkout too.

It works totally fine when tax IS being charged – i.e 19% VAT for Germany. Nothing wrong. It’s only hidden when it’s 0%.

    Thanks so much in advance!!

    Cheers

    Hello,
The problem you’re running into here primarily has to do with how WooCommerce handles tax exempt orders. Rather than charging 0% tax, it charges no tax. Fiscally this is a different thing. Our plugin (and other parts of WooCommerce) merely displays what VAT has been recorded in the order. It would display 0% tax if that was the rate that was applied to the order.

This means that if you want to display ‘0% tax’ for tax exempt orders, you’ll have to actively add it to the totals (programmatically because WooCommerce doesn’t recognize this out of the box).

However, if this is simply for reverse charge invoices, I believe according to EU regulations it would suffice to simply mention that it falls under the “Art. 138, VAT Directive 2006/112” regulation for physical goods or simply “VAT reverse charge” for digital goods. I am not an accountant so I would definitely check with one to make sure this applies to your country too.

    Hope that helps!
