Forbidden:You don’t have permission to access on this server

    Hi,

    I have WordPress 2.0.3 installed on my site and everytime I try to post to my blog I get the following error message:

    Forbidden
    You don’t have permission to access /moneyblog/wp-admin/post.php on this server.

    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    ….It’s a new blog so I’ve tried reinstalling wordpress and I’ve also tried installing the newest version of wordpress, but still nothing works. I keep getting the same message above when I try to post.

    Also, it doesn’t matter if I try to publish or save. I keep getting the same message.

    Any answers you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Does log-in as admin work?

    yes, log in as admin does work.

    …but the funny thing is, the admin name in the control panel appears as ADMINNICENAME.

    Do you have set the right permissions for your subdir and php-files (755, 644)?

    Hi,

    I’ve checked all of my permissions and all of my directories are set to 755 and my files are set to 664. However I’m still having the same problem. I’ve tried now to post from different computers and even from different locations and I still get this dreaded message:

    Forbidden
    You don’t have permission to access /moneyblog/wp-admin/post.php on this server.

    ……….can someone PLEASE help me resolve this.

    Bet you checked your error logs and saw a 403 status code too.

    Have you asked your host if they’re running mod_security? And if they are, have you asked them to turn it off?

    If they won’t, there are some work-arounds that you can find here from the last month or so (search on 403 and mod_security).
