• I installed WP-Footnotes Mon and all was well.

However I find I can’t insert a footnote within a paragraph at the end of a sentence after the full stop. For example, in “Islamic scholars have proposed four main different dates.HERE In Judaism it is traditionally dated at 1357.” I can’t put a footnote at ‘HERE’.

I find it works if I add a full stop after HERE, or remove the space. But standard practice I’m familiar with is to locate the note number after the full stop, not before. This doesn’t seem possible within a para (only at the end, where the footnote is followed by no character at all).

Simple, surprising problem. Is there a character to add, or something, to overcome it?

    Thank you

  • Did you solve this? I’m having inconsistent luck. One article it’s working well. Another, some of the footnotes simply won’t show. I wish another set of less used symbols were used, e.g. [[ or {{ rather than double parenthesis, which can also happen at times. Frustrating since I’ll need to use another plugin it seems. Worked very well for the first two articles.

Thanks. No, except by the pragmatic method of inserting a character coloured white – hence invisible – after the second bracket at the end of the footnote.

Others must have found this a problem too – or am I doing something wrong?

    Advice would be welcome.

    Thanks

Deleted, my suggestion was incorrect 🙂
