Footnote anchors are not actually tied to the post in which they exist, so on an archive page that contains the full body of each post (e.g. the main blog post page), you always get linked to the first set of anchors on a page.

Can the plugin be enhanced to add the post ID to footnote anchors?

I want to avoid anything that takes the markdown implementation away from the standard. You can manually specify a the footnote ‘ID’:

    This some text[^foobar]

        [^foobar]:
            This is the footnote

So prefixing it with the post ID is always an option.

I hadn’t thought about specifying my own ID, so that’s a good suggestion, and I suppose I know the (or at least ‘a’) post ID if I save a draft.

Ok, I’ll give that a shot, thanks.
