Footer problems

When I am using this theme, I have removed all widgets in the sidebar area.
However, I have three text widgets in the footer. These three widgets contain images.
The problem is – the three footer widgets are forced over to the left side. It is as if the sidebar area is overriding the footer area and making an area for it to display. This is even though the sidebar has no widget in it! The three images are spaced okay, it is just not centered evenly.
I cannot give a site to show the problem as it is a local site. I am trying to perfect the theme before applying it to my site.
I have spent hours on here searching for a solution and there is none, to my knowledge.
