Footer mysteriously at top of page

  • My footer, which has always happily lived at the bottom of the page where it belongs, has not decided it would like a little more attention, and is appearing at the top of the page. Normally there is a some what gaudy banner that lives there, but I’ve removed that while I try to figure this out. Right now it is only evidences by a random 2010 right below the header.

    Here is the strange part– I wasn’t working on the site at all. Just randomly happened. I am using the mimbo theme, with a decent amount of customization. I don’t see anything obvious wrong with the code, and like i said, i have not recently changed anything other than to add posts as normal.

    If anyone has any suggestions they would be much appreciated. The site can be viewed at http://www.yobeat.com

    You could start by sorting out the validation errors on your site. Then move onto the CSS errors.

    Your site looks nice. The 2010 that I saw, which is showing up under your header logo, looks like it may be due the 2010 is somehow ended up in between your span codes. Looking at your source, if you scroll down toward the bottom, you’ll see it here:
    </span> 2010 <span class=

    Totally unrelated, but don’t forget to upgrade to the newest version of WordPress to help yourself stay secure too. 🙂

    thanks for the tips. I suddenly realized none of the regular links on the main page are clickable either… no idea what might be causing this.

    I am scared to update wordpress because I have so many plug ins running, but given the sorry state of the site right now, no time like the present!

    Ok false alarm, some code I had added to the CSS was preventing the links from working. fixed that at least!

    Yobeat, the hassles of upgrading are far less than the hassles if your site gets compromised (as mine did when it was 2.7.1). So, the sooner you can upgrade the better.

    I figured out how to fix the footer. I simply added

    clear: both;

    to the footer definition. not sure why it worked up until now without it, but it’s fixed now!
