Footer editing
-
Hi everyone,
I’ve not launched my WP Woocommerce site yet but it’s http://www.epiphanybeads.co.uk which you can view – I’m using Shopstar theme which I think is quite good, so far! But I am unsure how to utilise the footer section of the page on the homepage to add extra menus for Ts&Cs, etc. in. I have had a go but so far the plugins I’ve selected haven’t worked so maybe this theme is not set up for this?? Anyhow, I do not wish to change my theme this late in the game so how can I adapt and use the footer section to add these additional menus (I just need one really for Ts&Cs (website use, cookies docs, etc.) and also I think I would just like to use the space to add in some nice tiled product images and the like! Anybody out there know how I can adapt it to my liking?
Thanks guys,
F

I recommend asking at https://wordpress.org/support/theme/shopstar so the theme’s developers and support community can help you with this.
Hi Steve,
Have contacted Shopstar a couple of times now but have to date received no reply – this has been over the course of the last few weeks. So this is my only port of call! I guess or assume – rightly or wrongly – they may want me to upgrade to their Premium service however I do not really need this at this point in time and so if there was another way to gain the functionality I need by using another method I would prefer to know about this.
Can you advise of anything I can try?
Thanks,
FYou could create a child theme, copy footer.php from the parent into the child, and edit it to suit your needs.

I don’t see any posts from you in the Shopstar support sub-forum.
Hi Steve,
Thanks for the tip on using a child theme. How would I then create all the things I need to add in? I’ve never tried anything like this before!
Thanks,
FAll you need is to copy footer.php from the parent to the child after creating the functions.php and style.css as shown in the codex.
Reluctant to try something like this before I know what else I can then do with it – how do I go about designing the things I need after this. I’d like to add in an additional menu or two and also add some images. Any recommendations for how to do this? As I say, I’ve never done this before all new to me!
All things developer can be found at https://developer.wordpress.org/
without much coding:
the footer of the theme is prepared for widgets, might be in the ‘Footer’ widget area.
for example, try using the default ‘Custom menu’ widget for your footer menu;
and search the plugins for (woocommerce) widgets for those tiled product images…
