• A very strange problem has recently appeared on my website, which is running the Admired theme. This despite the fact that I did not make any changes to the site or even log in to wp-admin in several days. The website in question is dialogosmedia.org.

Specifically, the background color in the footer, which was a dark gray shade, same as the header background color which is still visible (behind the logo and site title), suddenly is appearing as the same light gray shade as the background of the main body of the website. This has rendered the footer text almost unreadable. I’ve confirmed this across several browsers and devices (Chrome and Firefox on two PCs, Android browser). I cannot understand how this changed occurred, and I would like to ask if anyone is aware of a fix. Thanks.

  • This is basic CSS. It can be changed in any of the potential following places which are all dependent on the actual theme itself:

    1. Theme Options (If available)
    2. Customiser Custom CSS Page (if available)
    3. style.css file in theme directory

It is impossible to guess what changed or where it changed

Thank you for your reply. Though I am far from a proficient coder (makes sense, right? Why else would I be inquiring here?), I can say that:

    1. It’s nowhere in the theme options.
    2. I am wondering if its not as simple as simply changing the color, which would have no reason to change on its own.

As evidence of this, I played around with the theme’s built-in color schemes. Each color scheme I tried had the same problem, namely, the footer no longer appears with the same background color as the header.

To my non-expert mind, this tells me it’s not a simple problem of changing the color, but something with the footer background itself.

Is it possible that some coding standard used on my site was “deprecated” by major browsers, causing the footer background to no longer appear? Again, without knowing too much about coding or standards, I suspect it’s something like that, and I’ve got no idea what to try.

I can post code if that helps. Thanks.

Unfortunately I’ve had zero success finding a fix for this. Does anybody have any ideas?
