Support » Fixing WordPress » Font Size Shows Way Too Big

  • I am new to WordPress. I just wrote my first blog post in Word and copied and pasted over into the “Edit Post” space. Everything looked fine there, but when I “previewed” the post, each word that was either underlined or in bold showed up in a very large font, probably twice as large as the rest of the post.

I would greatly appreciate any insight… thanks!

  • Hi PastorAnthony,

I would recommend composing in a plain text editor like Notepad or Sublime Text 2. Word can include hidden formatting that can be affecting your font formatting. The good news is you should be able to go back in and edit that post, copy the text, paste it over into a plain text editor to strip out the formatting. Delete all the text back in the post and then paste in the text from the text editor.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks, ChristiNi, but it didn’t do the trick. I did notice that I am on WordPress version 3.0 but need to wait until my webmaster can update PHP and MySQL before I can update WP. That may have something to do with it(?). Anyway, I appreciate the try.

    Hello again PastorAnthony,

I’m sorry that didn’t work for you. The version really shouldn’t cause that. Have you tried creating a new post with text from a text editor instead of Word?

I tried that with no success. Actually, I went in and created an entire new “test” post, just typing it in the editor screen in WP… that still didn’t allow it to work. I even went into the section where you can edit the themes and didn’t see any code that would make the fonts do that… so weird.

    Hi PastorAnthony,

Can you give us a link to view? Do you have any plugins installed and are you using the default theme? There could be some CSS somewhere that is altering your post’s font style.
