    HI Im working with a Purity theme. Ive added MC for WP & MC for WP Top bar. No problems adding and customizing colors and text. I still get Oooops.
    Ive:
    Added the <name> into my code in an effort to fix this problem originally. That displays no problem.
    Checked WP API and it is ‘connected’
    I’ve checked the list fields and merge tags and they seem correct (in Mailchimp)
    Checked the code in the edit>WP forms: All seems fine there.
    <p>
    <label>Email Address</label>
    <input type=”email” name=”EMAIL” required>
    </p>
    <p>
    <label>First Name</label>
    <input type=”text” name=”FNAME” required>
    </p>
    <p>
    <input type=”submit” value=”Sign up” />
    </p>

    Have you any more thoughts? Did I miss anything?
    Thank you

    *I’ve temporarily deactivated the plugin as I don’t want it showing ooops!

    Hey Catherine,

    Can you please go to the “MailChimp for WP > Others” menu in your WordPress admin and let us know if you see any errors listed there?

    HI . I’ve gone to Mailchimp for WP > Others and see nothing unusual. No “Errors” . I see a ‘debug’ log and it has code in it. No ‘Errors’ though.

    OOOps I now see this

    [2016-12-04 19:12:46] ERROR: Top Bar > MailChimp API error: Bad Request. Your merge fields were invalid.
    – FNAME : Please enter a value

    So merge fields seem to be the problem. Ive checked those before and all seemed ok. I’ll have another look.

    Hi @trainingdogs,

    In your list, the “FNAME” must be a mandatory field and since that information is not being sent through the “TOP Bar” MailChimp would be rejected the submission. You can simply uncheck the mandatory setting for the “FNAME” field in your MailChimp list.
