I have a followup request/fix for this issue from 10 months ago and also another small glitch:

Pinterest Error – The image could to be loaded

If you change the code in class-scriptlesssocialsharing-button-pinterest.php at line 31-38 exchanging the place of media and description so media is in the middle, most lightbox plugins (including Elementor & Beaver Builder in my testing) no longer consider the link a media file since it does not end with a img extension. This will correct the non-working issue. As far as I can find, Pinterest does not have any problems with this order or the current order of the tags. Further testing would be recommended.

And for the minor error: when entering a Pinterest description with special characters they are replaced with the html version. For example ‘ is replaced with '. But once the page is loaded and saved again, the & which is now a special character is replaced with ' and so on and so on each save, resulting in ' after a few saves.

Thank you for the suggestion–I’ve checked on changing the order of the media and description parameters in the Pinterest button and I think you are correct that the switch can be made.

As far as the description issue, I’m having trouble replicating it myself, although I have seen evidence of it on another site. When I resolve that, I’ll be able to update the official version of the plugin with both changes.

Update: I found the issue with the post meta. If you want to verify on your end and are comfortable editing an additional PHP file, you can test it using the latest code on Github (line 170 in the post meta class is the only change). You will need to fix descriptions which had already been modified, but future revisions should be fine. Thank you for your patience–

Looks like it works on the two different posts that I just tested. All should be good to go.

I am having the same issue on a client’s site; I am unable to upload a custom Pinterest image and I am not comfortable with editing files on this site. Could you kindly let me know when your next update will be.

This issue was resolved in version 2.2.2 of the plugin, which has been released. If you are on the latest version of the plugin and are having an issue, please start a new support topic and with details and I will try to help you.
