I think what he means is how can a user follow without the fb page opening and having to click "follow" there. Just click follow on the website and its done

That is not feasible without using the FB JS API which this plugin tries to avoid. In fact I'm not sure you can do it with the JS API either or if it only works for likes/shares.

    Hi mattypants and bsapaka

I looked into this a while ago and it was difficult to find a decent article reviewing these - a way to LIKE the FB page without leaving the website (in the same way that you can LIKE just a specific post).

There are actually lots of sidebar widgets that can do this, but these are the 2 best methods that I found -

    1) Simple Facebook Plugin
Simple Facebook Plugin enables Facebook Page owners to attract and gain Likes from their own WordPress blogs. The Like Box enables users to:
    - See how many users already like this Page, and which of their friends like it too
    - Read recent posts from the Page
    - Like the Page with one click, without needing to visit the Page

    2) Social PopUP
This plugin will display a small popup when a new user visit your site showing a Google+, twitter and facebook follow links. This will increase you followers ratio in a 40%. Popup will be close depending on your settings.

Hope that helps, and good luck ! :-)

PS - thanks Synved for your good plugin too.
