Support » Fixing WordPress » fluid width code for images

  • I have an image on the front of my blog that is 650 pixels wide and it doesn’t present a problem for (my resolution is 1440×900) but for people with 1024×768 or lower, the image goes into the right sidebar. I already have a three column theme that is fluid width (the sidebars are a set width, the middle column is fluid). Is there a way to get images to be fluid? The image I am talking about is the Fireproof banner.

Some of the major reason we use a “design” is to give consistancy and readility to a project. Most of the rules for designing in print should also apply to the web.

Fluid columns are fine but how big do you want to go? What is the next banner is 1000px instead of 710px? It is not just a resolution problem. Some folks have several windows open and may prefer your site smaller.

I would decide on a max size and min size for the fluid column. Then I would resize any banner, or utube film that threatened my design.

Issues: photo under God Sent Us a Savior is forcing your column to add 150+ pixels in width; your copyright block is 250+ pixels to wide. All this is adding 400 pixels of width to your site. Fix these 2 issues and the center column will be back to a true fluid width.

BTW, when you solve your design issue, you might want to take care of site errors that show up here,
