Flexytalk is the best live chat plugin for wordpress but I hope there will be an upgrade on it to support the new google hangout

We are investigating the ‘closed’ google hangouts to see if we can cooperate with it, since Google did bluntly close all doors for developer with hangouts basically.

Google isn’t that Open anymore as it once shouted to be.

Please refer to the following links:

In the meantime, it still works great with any XMPP compatible account like JABBER.ORG

We played a bit with Google Hangouts, but there are I think even more problems than just the interoperability with other services they did cut off.

For once, google hangouts seems even to lack a proper online status, which we use to be online of offline with the Flexytalk Live Chat.

Right now, the way they ‘support’ external connections is just the way Facebook does with their chat, closed and only with your contacts on Facebook.I guess it’s just another try to make G+ a Facebook clone, which it failed in dramatically already.

Sebastian, thank you for attempting to work with Hangouts. Do you have a suggestion as to a viable alternative to Google Chat? I am amazed that they crippled their own software like this.

I would love to sign up for the simple plan and just have a single program installed on my Android phone to field chat requests.

    Hello hotconductor,

We have introduced a solution (or alternative as you might want to call it) for GTalk a few months ago: Our own free XMPP network (just like Gtalk) that is compatible with any XMPP/Jabber client, available for all devices.

There is even a free web client you can use on computer, tablet and phone. But for small screens we recommend XMPP apps that are optimized for this.

You can configure your own free XMPP account in the control panel -> agents.
