  • Is there a plugin that fixes the bizarre line breaks on posts imported from Typepad?

WP has put in line breaks mid-sentence, mid-paragraph all the way through most of the posts. Typepad uses the <p></p> code for paragraph breaks but I cannot see any code that is causing the line breaks in WP on the HTML/Text tab. If there was code there I could just do a find and replace to remove all the breaks.

I do not want to have to go line by line to delete the invisible break WP has put in. I have well over 150 posts!!

I have searched in the forum and the plugins but must not be using the right search terms.

Examples of what I am talking about: (See the funny line breaks in the instruction sections – the lists are working fine.)

  • Those DO have <br> tags in the text — look at the HTML using View Source in your browser.

To a large extent I think I can imagine Madoff’s roll in
    this in the beginning.
    <span> </span>
    The desire to be
seen as important, successful, beneficent, etc.
    <span> </span>

As you can see there are also some extraneous span tags in there.

What would be the easiest way to edit the post content to remove the breaks and span code? WP does not show the <br>. And of course on View Source I cannot edit.

I know how to edit lines in my theme but not sure how to pull out the content of a post for easy search and replace.

Okay, I have found if I use a text editor and replace the break code and the line space, I think it seems to be working. I am going to cross my fingers and go one by one through almost 100 posts.

If anyone knows of a quicker way to do this, I would love to hear about it!
