Support » Plugin: Email Subscribers & Newsletters » Fixing duplicate e-mails for notifications with group selector

  • My wife has three sub-blogs based on categories and she has used this plugin to make it possible for people to subscribe to one or more of the sub-blogs using the group selector. This is fine, but when people select multiple categories (groups), they appear in the database as multiple users. If she makes a post to multiple categories (as sometimes makes sense), those users receive duplicate e-mails. Annoyingly, the code doesn’t realize it’s doing this and it sends the same subject line for all of the duplicate e-mails, even if there are different templates in the notifications for each category.

I was able to make it only send one e-mail by adding a “GROUP BY es_email_mail” command before the “ORDER BY es_email_mail” at the end of the es_notification_subscribers function in db_notification.php. This removed any matching results with the same e-mail. This is a decent workaround, and may be worth rolling into a future update.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I have taken a note of it and have informed the lead developer of the same. We would surely look into it soon. Thank you for taking time to workaround with the plugin and letting us know about it. I would get back to you once I have an update on it.
