  • Hello Im looking for advice or tips on coding a mock up I’ve created into a wordpress theme.

the thing that is throwing me off is that my mock up doesn’t feature a sidebar, but instead has 3 sort of widgets at the bottom.

Are there any blank themes like this or should i do it as normal and create a custom home page.. if so are there any good tutorials out there to do this?

The site doesn’t need a blog feature but may in the future that’s why I’m using wordpress, but for now no sidebar is needed just a header, nav, content, 3 widgets and footer all on top of each other.

the thing that is throwing me off is that my mock up doesn’t feature a sidebar, but instead has 3 sort of widgets at the bottom.

In that case, you’ll need to either widgetize your page template(s) or footer.php.

no sidebar is needed just a header, nav, content, 3 widgets and footer all on top of each other.

In WordPress “sidebar” is a generic term mean a navigation and/or static content block that appears on most pages. If your design features a navigation menu, then, in effect, that will be your sidebar.

You might want to start with http://codex.wordpress.org/Theme_Development and then either build your theme from scratch. Or alternatively, download a simple free theme and start customising it to suit your purposes.

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.
