She has a domain all set up and I am in the process of trying to design her site for her. I have set up a database with the server. I have set up the MySQL settings in my wp-config.php file and uploaded to here directory. I’ve checked and rechecked the settings and everything looks right. Now this is where I am probably dense, the instructions tell me to “open /wp- admin/install.php in your browser”, does that mean that I just type that into the browser or is that at the end of herdomain.com?? I don’t understand how typing that into the browser will get me to her files?? I am using 1and1.com as a server, have you had any problems or conflicts with them?? All 1and1 sent me was a link to the install instructions for 1and1.com which is exactly the same as WP. I sent them a return email blasting them and telling them that I want help not FAQ’s. I’ve been looking at WP’s troubleshooting and I have checked everything with the wp-config and everything is right with that. I have gone as far as changing the password with in MySQL and changing it in the wp-config. changed the wordpress folder to christysblog, which is the description in the MySQL. I am starting to stress alittle. Next step is the “install4free”. I’m trying to download a theme for my blog page. At this point I don’t even care which one it is, I just want SOMEthing other than the blue blog screen that pops up with WordPress blogs. However, each time I click to download theme I can see the zip file on my desktop but when I try to open it its most data (script)files, I guess. Two questions: First, how do I start a new thread? I just clicked on the first link that popped up after I entered my question in the search box. * Next, how do I load the unzipped file to my “theme folder”? I don’t believe I’ve seen a theme folder in anything that I’ve opened or edited. This could mean your host’s database server is down. * Are you sure you have the correct username and password? Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname? Are you sure that the database server is running?
