    Hi there,

I’m trying to set up Yoast for the first time on my site but I’m having trouble getting past the Site Representation stage. I’m able to select organisation, and enter organisation name, but when I click continue nothing happens.

I’ve opened up my console and seen that there are some errors happening… if this helps at all?

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error)

POST https://anxietysquash.com/wp-json/yoast/v1/configuration/site_representation?_locale=user 500 (Internal Server Error)

    Many thanks for your help

Hi @jimbojoho, thanks for reaching out. The first thing that comes to mind is the fact that the WordPress REST API might be disabled. This could cause the problem as you’re seeing it on your site.

Could you check if that is the case on your site too, please?

    Thanks for your message Taco,

I’m not sure how to test it to be honest, could you point me in the right direction?

    Many thanks

    Hello Jimbojoho,

Thanks for following up with us.

Based on the error, it shows that your server returned a 500 internal server error for the request URL – https://anxietysquash.com/wp-json/yoast/v1/configuration/site_representation?_locale=user. This typically occurs when a server is configured to prevent access to the REST API. The issue may be caused by your web hosting provider’s security measures.

To resolve this, please contact your web host to check the mod_security settings that may prevent our plugin from accessing the REST API request: wp-json/yoast/v1/configuration/site_representation?_locale=user

If you are using caching on your site, you may need to adjust cache settings to remove /wp-json/yoast from the caching. If you are unsure how to do that, please contact your host provider and/or caching plugin authors.

After making the changes with your web host, can you please try the first-time configuration again to see if it goes through?

    Many thanks for your reply.

I actually tried it again, weirdly it worked with no issues and I haven’t changed anything at all.
