• I just downloaded and installed UpdraftPlus and it looks pretty good. I chose to store data on my Google Drive which is the most difficult external connection to set up using the Google APIs. The UpdraftPlus documentation was solid – walked me right through it, worked perfect the first time. Did a manual backup and it worked fine.

I note that the paid version is a totally separate plugin. Sometimes, this can mean the free version is the bastard stepchild that has errors. This is NOT the case here – the free version looks and acts rock solid.

I have a handful of small sites that I’m not getting paid for, so I have to keep expenses exceptionally low. Having said that, I may consider the paid version of UpdraftPlus just on principle if it works well for me over time.

    **** UPDATE ****
Well, they committed the cardinal sin of plugins. They had a feature in UpdraftPlus that would make a copy of your website to allow you to move it elsewhere (migrate). They removed that ability and made it a PAID feature. Adding NEW features and charging for it is a great idea, but taking an existing feature out of the free zone to become a paid item is really low, imho. Boo, for shame, for shame.
