  • I am pleased to announce the release of Odyssey – the first template pack compatible with the theme manager in WordPress 1.3. Alpha. Users should be aware of the experimental nature of this first model. It is pre fitted with Gemini, Fujiyama and Maximus positioning templates, their default CSS, and one example. The puropose of this release is to test and demonstrate everything from the zip, the install and right thru to the development road map. Plus of course its compatibility with the theme manager itself.
Once it is proven to be running I will add Trident and Vesuvius and a style pack. The heads up and download are on my blog at the 404
My thanks to rboren from the WP devs for his patience in supplying the necessary technical info to let us get this launched.

I gave them a twirl on my testbed and they look very nice indeed. Cool stuff.

So they install Ok then ?

They install just fine, and are all visible on the admin end of my site.

Well thats a relief 🙂 Thanks for giving it a shot 🙂

Well now we just need some er styles 🙂

Does this mean your the host of the next Style competition? 😛

Er I dont think so 🙂

Root, I think the gauntlet (or at least the digital stylus) has been thrown down. You are a natural to host the next styling contest! ;-P

Can’t wait to try this! Thanks for your contributions!

Well no one seems to have blown up yet but activating the staticise plug-in is reported to bork 🙂 the theme manager completely. It would do wouldnt it ? 🙂 And I will take the style gallery under advisement. 🙂

I must have missed a step: these work in but not in
    What am I missing?

All I can think of is make sure that they are pointing to the right folders in each install. Each install will have its own wp-content/themes folder, and make sure there are no absolute URIs in the style sheets that might cause this.

    I think I’ve fixed it: I replaced:
    require(ABSPATH . 'wp-blog-header.php');
    in themes/gemini/index.php.

Just to save anyone else the trouble of mentioning it Maximus is clearly unsatisfactory and will be pulled from the next release. Trident and Vesuvius templates will be added. Thanks to you all for giving it a trial. Site traffic has been phenomenal. I think this is going to be a very big hit for WordPress. I am really enjoying trying the switching capability without the necessity of buying into any one design or another. Its the switching bit that is cool.
Mandatory Disclaimer: WP 1.3 is Alpha only. It breaks from time to time. It is meant to 🙂
