I clicked the ‘click here to configure’ button in the notice and got the error message below.

Error reading config data, configuration file could be corrupted. Click here to rebuild the configuration file.

Clicking the link to rebuild just takes me back to the same error message with the notification re-instated.

The site is currently running on WP 4.4.2 and there aren’t any other security plugins on it?

Just to clarify there is no other information or options shown on the configuration page.

    Thanks

    Andrew

  • I’m having same issue with version: 6.2.0
    and webserver: nginx/1.6.2

Should I post into the bug sections ?

Do you use nginx as web server ?

I’m having same issue with version: 6.2.0
    and webserver: nginx/1.6.2

Since the latest release of WordPress and Wordfence, I’ve been seeing this same issue on one of my installations; the config.php file in wp-content/wflogs/ is repeatedly becoming corrupted, even when no changes/updates have been made to the site installation. (This has happened three times so far, most recently a couple of days apart.) Loading an older version of the config.php file from an older site backup fixes the issue.

When the error happens, the “gone bad” config file is present on the system with proper file permissions, and its contents look plausible on cursory inspection. (No obvious difference in format from a “working” config file.) I can send a copy of a “corrupted” config.php file if this will help – please let me know who to send it to if so.

FYI The installation is a multiste one running 14 active sites, some of which are on subdomains of the main domain and some of which are mapped to wholly different domains. I’m using Apache 2.4.6, PHP 5.5.21.

    Thanks!

Have the same problem using PHP 5.6 – unfortunately I’ll have switch to another security plugin 🙁

Well, this was a first for me. I just received notice that my server error logs for this domain had filled up the disk quota. 🙂

I’m already running the latest stable version of PHP in the 5.6 branch. The config.php file was empty, so I just renamed it. When I went into Wordfence/Tools/Diagnostics (I think that was the tab), it re-created config.php with some data in it and all seems right with the world again.
