I am using WP 5.2.4–en_GB. Up to a few months ago I was able to access my drafts of posts but now I can not see any link or means of findig them to continue editing and the publish. I have been using Gutenberg blocks and may be that is a conincidence but accessing drafts seems to have become a problem. Do i have to be in a certain view or editor as the draft was saved but now all means to find a link to ‘drafts’seems elusive.

Help would be appreciated as it is very frustrating .

  • Do you see the links at the top of the Posts list page?

Joy thank you for your reply but there is no such menu line at the top of all posts list all that appears is All, Published but no other choices

If there is no link, there are no Drafts. That part of core has not changed.
However, I have noticed that the new editor does not treat the status of the post the same as the old editor. Before, when you edit a post and make a small change, then try to click to a different page, there was a warning about leaving without saving. In the new editor, that doesn’t happen, but it varies whether you end up with that post as a draft or just another revision on it. And if you click Preview from the new editor, the post is saved, unlike in the old editor.

There might be an issue already written for this, but if not, you can write one at

Joy thanks again. It does appear that something has changed in the way draft posts will be saved or not. Having read your note earlier, I accepted that my post had most likely not been saved due to the ‘leave page’ issue. So I tried an experiment by drafting a few key points from the article I thought I had saved as a reminder but this time saved it as private view – as I remembered reading a comment about that method. The private link appeared in the menu along with all and published posts. The private post was visible.

I also recalled seeing the quick draft box on the desktop so I tried that and interestinlgy that has a link ‘Save draft’ which I clicked and that worked fine Draft also appeared in the menu line along All Published Draft and Private. So there is a work around. I will consider raising the issue and potential alternative solutoins as you suggest but thank you again for helping me to see the way ahead
