Filter categories on category listing widget
-
Hey all,
i’m having trouble understand if it’s even possible through woocommerce backend to have multiple “Products categories” widget with filtered values. To further elaborate here is an example of how my website products are organized (for now)
All my products are both part of a generic “type” (air filters, risers, handlebars) as well as a specific “collection” (performance collection, diamond bagger collection).
I’d like to have the “Product categories” widget basically splitted into two different widgets so that i can both browse the shop by the generic “Type” and/or by “Collection”.
Is it possible with the vanilla version of woocommerce because i can’t find a way to do it.
Thanks in advance.
The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hello,

In this case, you may want to use the
Filter Products by Attribute
widget instead. You can add 2 attribute filter widgets (“type” and “collection”) to help your customers find products by those attributes: https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-widgets/#section-6If you are not familiar with attributes, here is a link to our documentation that explains what attributes are and how to add them: https://woocommerce.com/document/managing-product-taxonomies/#section-6
Thanks for the insight. But this would require me to change the whole structure of my products because the “Collection” is now a category and not an attribute.
I don’t know how painful would this modification be for a several hundreds products :/
Thanks.-

Hi @horizont
You don’t have to change the current category structure. You can keep the product category widget, and show attribute filters too. Since there isn’t a built-in option to split the “Product Category” widget, it’s best to use the attribute feature.
If you have many products, I’d recommend using the built-in product importer and exporter – this can help you bulk-update products:
https://woocommerce.com/document/product-csv-importer-exporter/Alternatively, if you are up for using another plugin, you can check out product filter plugins like below:
https://woocommerce.com/products/product-filters/

https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce-products-filter/We’ve not heard back from you in a while, so I’m marking this thread as resolved. If you have further questions, please feel free to open a new topic.
